Introduction


Army List

 

An Umayyad Army must have more divisions classed as Arab than Mawali or Sugd. At least half the divisions must be classed as foot

 

1-2 Arab Foot Divisions

2-3 Arab spearmen

0-1 Sakiriyya

 

1-2 Arab Cavalry Divisions

2 Arab cavalry

0-1 Bedouin Scouts

 

0-1 Mawali Cavalry Division

1-3 Asawira, Buhariyya, Berbers

0-2 Buhariyya Archers

Buhariyya archer can only be used in a Buhariyya division. A famous mawali Berber division was the Waddahiyya, which numbered about 3000 men

 

0-1 Sugd Division

2-3 Sogdian Horse Archers

 

0-2 Mawali Foot Divisions

1-2 Mawali spearmen

0-1 Qiqan or other archers

 

Mawali include Zutt, Sayabigha, Hamra, and Daylami converts.

 

Optional Units

0-2 Sudanese Javelinmen

0-1 Asawira (n1)

0-3 Rabita (n2)

 

Note 1- This optional unit cannot be used if an Asawira-Mawali division is used.

Note 2- Rabita were independent units of cavalry (500-1000 men strong) estbablished in Iraq.
