Introduction
The Teutonic Order was active in Eastern Euope, fighting a variety of foes. The Order fought both pagan peoples like Estonians, and other Christian states like Poland.
At Tannenburg, the army formed up with the wings anchored against terrain points. Infantry formed the first line, and included artillery. The second and third line was made up of 'banners'. Such banners were mounted units, with a solid core of knights. Such knights included the knights or the Teutonic order as well as various adventurers, mercenaries and volunteer crusaders.
A reserve was positioned near the village of Grunwald
